Oh screen brightness works fine with fedora 13 live CD and the fn keys work no problem as well. the only thing I can think with teh slider is a recent win 7 update. I have checked BIOS to see if there is anything about screen brightness there, the fn+f9 fn+f10 keys dont work either.
